In 1970 , the Moreau family, who, since the beginning of the century, had always been a negociant and winemaker in Chablis Grands Crus and 1er Crus, decided to extend its range to regular Chablis in order to answer to an increasing domestic and international supply.
Jean-Jacques MOREAU, who believed in his terroir, began to buy parcels on the village of Viviers, located at the east of the village of Chablis and in limits of the appellation. This village was at that time composed of several little not developed parcels.
Many thought that he was mistaken because the vineyards were situated at an altitude of 280 meters (the highest point of Chablis is at 300 meters). Therefore climate is colder than in the slopes valley.

However, Jean-Jacques MOREAU bought parcel after parcel and, created an estate of 65 hectares in one piece, a sight unique in Burgundy.
Moreover, we should note that 45 hectares of this exceptional vineyards are planted on a full kimmeridgien subsoil and a calcareous and limestone soil, with a south-south west exposure similar to some of the most famous Grands Crus & 1er Crus. Planted on old truffleground, the regular Chablis of Domaine De Biéville expresses, in the best vintages, a wine equivalent to the quality of the Chablis 1er crus.
35 years later and strong of its old vineyards, the wines of this estate are well balanced, supple and fleshy.
